Perfectly clear what women want

When having makeup professionally applied, what Hong Kong women seem to want most is  to look as if they have a perfect complexion.

"It's possible with makeup," says Mei Ling Talibart, a freelance makeup artist based  in Central.

"The most important look today is to have perfect skin, to look fresh and with makeup that's not too heavy."

Talibart says the trend for tinted moisturisers is big in Hong Kong . But  in autumn and winter, women will apply more foundation and more  and heavier eye shadow colours such as dark  blues and deeper golds,  as well as stronger colours on their lips, as opposed to just gloss.

"For day time, even  in winter, women will want to look like they're not wearing any foundation," she says. "Right now, the look is very natural."

Eve Lindsay, from colour me beautiful, says that, when it comes to makeup trends, eye- liners are back - but the heavy foundation look won't return.

Makeup has advanced so much in the past 10 years, she says.

"We all want to  look better, but don't necessarily want everyone to know we're doing anything to get there.

"Makeup today has light diffusing tricks that make you look better without anyone knowing."
