Savvy Style, Colour Me Beautiful HK

What is it?
An overhaul of your makeup and application style, with former fashion designer Eve Roth Lindsay. It can be done on your own or in a group as a makeup party. She also does image makeovers, such as creating the right clothing colours and styles.
Why do it?
Be honest. How well do you know your colours? Many women wear the wrong greens, foundation that's too dark, or an eyeliner colour better suited to a teenager. Lindsay will look at a client's entire face - the shape, skin tone and problem areas - and find colours and products to suit. The idea is to devise a simple, time-efficient 'face' for people wanting to update their image or look more professional.
What are her qualifications?
Lindsay started Colour Me Beautiful Hong Kong in 2001, which she runs as part of her image consultancy, Savvy Style. Before that, she ran her own fashion company in New York, then worked as head of design for Allan Zeman's garment companies for 13 years. She learnt her makeup trade while working alongside artists in the fashion business.
What's involved?
Lindsay shows you how best to take care of skin, devises a fast and simple makeup routine and advises on what colours suit 'naturally', as well as application tips for a long-lasting look.
How long does it take?
About an hour.
But what if I like my green eye shadow?
The colour chart for makeup is about light, soft, cool, deep, clear and warm - and not just about simple block colours. You can still wear favourite colours. The consultation is about finding the right colours that suit your skin tone, eyes and face shape.
Is the makeup expensive?
No. It's similar in price to Body Shop makeup, Lindsay says.
Who should consult her?
Teenagers to 80-year-olds have used the service.
What's her favourite product?
A sheer eye base over the entire eyelid every morning before applying makeup.
What about the look for summer? Lindsay says the smoky eye is out and a more feminine eye
is in. 'You shouldn't look as if you're wearing masses of makeup, so use something light-diffusing,' she says.
How much does the makeup makeover cost?
This is the most popular consultation and costs $850 for adults and $650 for teens. You can visit her office or she'll come to you for a travel fee. A consultation for three or more is $800.
